Taking Pillow Fights...

to a whole new level.  Out in the village of Chum Chummal we have a few friends that are working on a medical project with Samaritan's Purse.  We have gone out multiple times to help install random odd-n-ends but this trip was merely for fun and relaxation.  In Kurdistan the weekends are Friday and Saturday, not Saturday and Sunday, and time tends to feel like it is flying by.   These combined sometimes throws me off since I am never sure what day it actually is.  At the project there are multiple "villas" or buildings that will, in the future, be used to house doctors, other staff, or be used for offices etc.  In Villa 1, where our friends are staying while the project is being set up, they have constructed a "Kurdish Room".  In traditional style there are no couches, but cushions on the floor with smaller, dense pillows lining all the walls.  Mix about 20 of those pillow being flung with great force towards your head and you have a toned down stoning.  Does this count as something new?  Nope, still working to find things to fill that category, but I would say emphatically that it was the most intense pillow fight I have ever experienced.  Picture the storming of Normandy Beach, without the loss of limbs and you have the atmosphere.  Thankfully none of us were harmed, but some pillows needed a little loving care afterwards.

Useful...

Maybe not, but in the midst of a Kurdish lesson during Thursday night Coffee Shop I decided to learn how to order some Starbucks in the the current hometown language.  Adventurous, not so much, but I do enjoy the randomness.  Still taking requests and suggestions as the days go by.

Ama weight grande chai latte da wah b'come.
I would like to order a grande chai latte.

Bayzee heh mud zor garimbit babay calf.
Please make it extra hot with no foam.

Ama weight sheeri soya.
I would like it with soy milk.

Primaca.
Don't fill it all the way.

Ama weight dermonicum bey comma now latte.
I need to put my medicine in the latte.

Spaz, rojakikee hosh!
Thank you, have a nice day!

It's a Brand New Day...

...and thus, time to try something new.  I think I was partially inspired by Yes Man, Julie and Julia and just the general itch to try something and write about the aftermath later.  Plan...try one new thing every day and practice my writing skills by relating the experience to my valued viewers...you.   Now, this won't be a rigid schedule, as many days are quite full and don't leave much time for experimentation.  If I can't try something new, I shall try something random, to be completed with pictures and post.  Therefore, I am now taking suggestions.
